How does Verified by Visa Protect Me?
Simply put, your Verified by Visa password offers you an additional level of security.
Here's how it works...
When you're ready to make an online purchase you'll enter your card information as
usual, the participating merchant will prompt you to enter your password in the
Verified by Visa window, your identity will be verified, and the transaction will be
completed. At merchants that are not yet participating in Verified by Visa, your Visa
card will continue to work as it did prior to adding the password. A Verified by
Visa password may be required at some online merchants.
So what happens if someone else has your card? An unauthorized user would not have
your Verified by Visa password even if they had your card, and the transaction
would not be processed. So, even if you don't make purchases online, you should
have a Verified by Visa password. Plus, it's free and easy to set up.
Look for the Verified by Visa symbol displayed at many participating stores.
